Important: Player Data is Opt-In Only
Gatecrash is approved under Riot Games' third-party developer program. In compliance with Riot's VALORANT Game Policies, player statistics are only made visible to other users after the player explicitly opts in by linking their Riot Account via Riot Sign On (RSO). If you have not opted in, your personal data will not appear on this site for other users.
1. Who We Are
Gatecrash ("we", "us", "our") is an independent, community-built Valorant statistics and player-finder platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Riot Games, Inc. Our use of the Riot Games API is governed by Riot's Developer Policies.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of data:
2a. Account Data (registered users only)
- Email address and hashed password (used for login)
- Account creation date and last updated timestamp
- Session tokens (stored securely, expire automatically)
2b. Riot Account Data (RSO opt-in only)
When you link your Riot Account via Riot Sign On (RSO), we receive from Riot Games:
- Your Riot ID (game name and tagline)
- Your PUUID (Riot's anonymous player identifier)
- Your region
We use this data to fetch your match history and rank from the Riot Games API on your behalf. We do not receive or store your Riot Games account password. Access tokens received from Riot are used only for authorised API requests and are not shared with third parties.
2c. Public Profile Data (optional)
If you choose to enable a public profile in Settings, you may additionally provide:
- A short bio (max 200 characters)
- Discord handle
- Preferred game mode and comms style
- Preferred server/region
This information is entirely voluntary and publicly visible while your profile is enabled. It can be removed at any time.
2d. Usage Data
We may collect standard server logs, including IP addresses and browser/device information, for security and debugging purposes. This data is not sold or shared with advertisers.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To display your stats: Match history, rank, and performance data fetched via the Riot API are shown on your profile page only after you have opted in via RSO.
- To power the player finder: Public profile data (rank, bio, Discord) is shown in the /find directory only if you have explicitly enabled your public profile.
- To operate your account: Email and password are used solely for authentication. We do not use your email for marketing without your consent.
- For play requests: When you send or receive a duo request, the relevant account identifiers are stored to power the notification system.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data to train AI models.
4. Riot Games API & RSO
Gatecrash uses the official Riot Games API. Access to match data is granted only through Riot Sign On (RSO) — Riot's OAuth 2.0 authentication system. This means:
- Your data is accessed only with your explicit authorisation during the RSO login flow.
- You can revoke Gatecrash's access at any time from your Riot Account settings (Connected Apps) or via Gatecrash Settings.
- Revoking access stops all future data fetches. Cached stats are removed within 24 hours.
- Riot Games' own Privacy Notice governs how Riot collects and processes your data on their end.
5. Data We Do Not Show
In line with Riot's VALORANT API policies, the following data will never be surfaced by Gatecrash:
- Pre-match opponent data (scouting): We do not provide tools to look up active match participants' stats before a game ends. This is explicitly prohibited by Riot.
- Data for players who have not opted in: If a player has not linked their account via RSO, their detailed personal stats (match history, rank) are not publicly visible to other users on Gatecrash.
6. Data Retention
- Match data from the Riot API is fetched per-request and not permanently stored in our database (it is server-side rendered).
- Your Riot ID, PUUID, region, and cached rank are stored in our database to power your linked account and public profile.
- Upon account deletion, all stored data including your Riot account links, public profile, play requests, and session data are permanently deleted.
7. Third-Party Services
Gatecrash relies on the following third-party services:
- Riot Games API — Official source of match, rank, and account data.
- PostgreSQL (via Railway or similar) — Database hosting for user accounts and public profiles.
- Vercel — Hosting and server-side rendering (subject to Vercel's own Privacy Policy).
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other advertising trackers.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data (e.g. update your profile).
- Erasure — delete your Gatecrash account and all associated data from Settings.
- Revoke RSO access — unlink your Riot Account at any time from Settings or from your Riot Account page.
- Opt out of public visibility — disable your public profile at any time from Settings.
To exercise any of these rights, use the Settings page or contact us via Discord.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Service evolves or in response to changes in Riot Games' developer policies. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
11. Contact
For privacy questions, data requests, or to report a concern, contact us via Discord or open an issue on the project repository. For matters related to your Riot Account data, contact Riot Support.
